How does a smart house help to save money?

Over time, automatic home management systems, also known as smart house systems, are becoming more accessible and popular. Initially, the concept of such systems was created on three main pillars: security, comfort and energy saving. And since the price of energy resources is growing, all customers are beginning to seek the best solution to this problem at an affordable price even before construction begins.

Smart home systems can significantly reduce the amount of energy consumed, in particular, due to optimized lighting and microclimate operation. Considering the benefits that can be obtained from such a system, you can see two main points: material (saving money) and non-material (saving time). Let’s take a closer look at what is being said.

Saving money

The main emphasis in saving is on reducing the electricity payments. Regardless of any further changes in the price of electricity, this will bring its effect.

How does a smart house save electricity for you? First, its consumption can be reduced by introducing more modern lighting sources into the automation processes. So the user can adjust the power of light, focusing also on light sensors, the level of natural light and time of day.

Also, installation of motion and presence sensors will help. The light will turn off automatically a few minutes after people leave. In that way you can avoid the constant costs of electricity in the passage rooms, bathrooms and staircases.

Interesting savings opportunities are achieved by automating the operation of various climate systems – if several different systems are used in the room, it is enough to set the necessary temperature regime for individual rooms or the whole house entirely, and the automation will decide by itself which systems can achieve the most economical conditions. In addition, this will eliminate possible conflicts between several systems, let’s say between air conditioners and warm floors, which will significantly extend the service life of the equipment and again – save the owner money.

If we sum up the described ways of saving electricity, then, according to experts, the possible savings, provided that the system is correctly designed, can be 10 to 40 percent. As practice shows, the larger the object and the more engineering systems it uses, the higher this percentage can be.

Often, in a modern home, in addition to lighting and climate equipment, sophisticated engineering systems are used: ventilation, air conditioning, boiler equipment, equipment for swimming pools and saunas, and much more. The use of home automation systems in symbiosis with such systems will extend their service life by timely informing you by audio triggers about possible malfunctions and reporting systems about the operation of equipment.

Consider the indirect savings of money with the help of Smart House.

Can you imagine how much money and nerves can be lost if there is an unforeseen situation in the house, such as water leakage, fire, or robbery? The consequences of these situations can be minimized, or even completely prevented, using the capabilities of automation systems.

In this way, the water leakage sensors will not only use the dangerous recognition function, but also block the necessary pipes, additionally send the message to the owner’s mail or phone, or the dispatcher, so that all necessary measures are taken. The same can be attributed to smoke detectors, as well as to sensors of penetration into the house.

Of course, all these elements can be installed separately, or you can use the audio security system developed by us called Noisam. As practice shows, the cost of implementation will be a little higher, and efficiency will rise at times.

Simple and quick setup

Reduce the cost of energy savings will be realized through the following functions:

  • The ability to set the desired temperature level manually, taking into account the outdoor temperature.
  • The possibility of manual and automatic switching between the created modes “Economy” (in all rooms, the temperature is minimally comfortable for this season), “Comfort” (in rooms with people staying there is an optimal temperature with the possibility of regulation in a wide range, with a smooth time and depending on the outside temperature) and “Anti-freezing” (maintaining the minimum temperature in the house).
  • The possibility of creating scenarios for climate, lighting, heating, depending on the presence of people in the room. For example, you can turn off the warm floor or all the heating equipment at the same time as turning off the light by pressing a single button or set the operating mode of the heating devices with the minimum power. Or by creating a scenario, when the door is opened, turn on the light on the street and switch off after 5 minutes. A significant factor in saving energy is the effective use and distribution of the lighting load.

Save time

Time is money. Therefore, we simply can not ignore the opportunities that the use of Smart House technology in terms of saving your time.

Think, how much time do you spend before you leave your home to check whether lights and electrical appliances are turned off in the house? Remember the situation when you had to look for a remote from a TV or air conditioner? And it so happens that you are watching an excellent film and at this time in the corridor a doorbell ringing is heard?

Smart home – will help to carry out all these actions with minimal effort. If desired, you can make sure that the management of all the features of your home is always at your fingertips, in your favorite mobile device.

Separately, we would like to note the possibility of using different scenarios, which represent a programmed sequence of actions of various systems. Among different examples there is the “Turn off everything” –  which will turn off all lighting and electrical appliances, as well as de-energize the outlets, except necessary. Or the script “I’m at home” – which a person can run, driving up to the house. As a result, in the house by the time of arrival the basic lighting will be switched on, the necessary temperature regime will be provided, a hot bath can be prepared and so on. In fact, by clicking on the script launch button, a person saves a lot of time, which otherwise will have to be spent on performing routine activities.

Unique benefits

Summarizing the results of our conversation – at the moment Smart House is an effective investment of funds, which allows to significantly reduce the cost of living, and also save on the operation and maintenance of various engineering systems. At the same time, the comfort of living significantly improves and the time spent managing all the possibilities of your home is reduced.

Currently, the payback period of such systems is 3 to 6 years, but with the increase in energy prices this time will be much less!

Mentioning our Noisam system, you will be able to hear everything in and out your house due to the noise recognition function. To find more information about this read about this product in several more articles.

One response to “How does a smart house help to save money?”
  • Bethany Birchridge says:

I had no idea that smart home automation could allow homeowner’s to not only turn lights on and off, but control their brightness. My uncle is actually in the process of building a home for his family, so I think he may be interested in home automation. Where can he learn even more about it?
